Spotify now allow users to play podcast episodes directly from any Google Assistant-enabled device. Prior to this implementation, Google Assistant was only permitted to play tracks and music from the popular music streaming platform. With this, Spotify users will now be able to conveniently prompt Assistant by saying “Ok Google, play (mention podcast episode)”.
To link Spotify to Google Assistant, first ensure that your mobile device is connected to the same WiFi connection with a Google device. Upon doing so, open the Google Home app, tap Account at the top right section and then tap the Plus icon in the home screen. From there, select Music And Audio and finally tap on Link Account to begin the Spotify log-in process.
In commemoration of Spotify’s biggest year for podcasts, the platform has provided some podcast episode recommendations for its users to take note of. Among them include Parcast’s Blind Dating, Gimlet’s Resistance, a collection of podcasts playlist in Best of 2020 So Far, among other episodes.
At the time of writing, it is worth noting that the aforementioned feature has already been rolled out and available in English globally.
