There appears to be a bug on the Twitter app that allows people to edit their tweets. Well, sort of. While it would’ve been a very welcome feature for many users, the social media company itself has confirmed that it’s a bug that it’s looking into.
Twitter user @starsandrobots first made the discovery of the bug. Basically, if you make replied to a tweet, quickly deleting it and hitting the reply button again will reproduce the deleted tweet for you to edit. In a sense it’s very similar to Gmail’s unsend feature that was introduced five years ago.
hey tom – unfortunately, we're not testing this. it's a bug and we're looking into it.

Naturally, this led many users to think that it’s a new feature the company is testing. Unfortunately, this was shot down quite quickly by company Comms representative Liz Kelley. Not only is this not a feature, it’s also a bug that’s waiting to be squashed. And with it, the hopes and dreams of many a Twitter user.
It’s ultimately not very surprising. The company has been very consistently against editing tweets. But considering the demand for such a feature by the user base, maybe this is a bug that’s better left unfixed, as unlikely as that is to happen.
