Western Digital recently has unveiled the latest generation of its My Passport portable solid state drive that marked the arrival of NVMe technology into the family. The technology provides the new model with faster data transfer speed as opposed to previous generations of My Passport SSD which utilized the slower SATA interface.

According to specs sheet from WD, the 2020 My Passport models offers a read speed of up to 1050MB/s while they can also go up to 1000MB/s when it comes to write speed. The company also stated that the portable SSD is able to withstand a drop from a height as high as 1.98m.

Other than that, users can also take advantage of the password enabled 256-bit AES hardware encryption feature to help secure their data inside the drive. It also protected by a five-year limited warranty from WD.

Available from WD’s official Lazada and Shopee stores as well as selected dealers nationwide, the new 2020 My Passport SSD with 500GB storage can be obtained from today onwards for RM 599 while the 1TB model costs RM 1069. If you need bigger storage space, do keep a look for the 2TB model which WD will release into our market for RM 1999 at a later date.
