Chinese camera accessory maker Zhiyun has unveiled the new Crane 2S gimbal, which offers vast improvements over its predecessor. The company promises that its latest offering will deliver quick and smooth performance, as well as provide a variety of new modes for creators.
The Zhiyun Crane 2S is capable of supporting various cameras such as the Sony A9, Nikon D850, Canon EOS 1DX series, and more. It also features a new FlexMount System to ensure that the user’s gear is safely secured by incorporating a double safety mechanism and a user-adjustable safety lock. For storage, the gimbal is equipped with Zhiyun’s Axis Locking Mechanism 2.0 system which locks the gimbal’s gyroscope in place.
As for features, the Crane 2S includes six modes to choose from including Pan Following, Locking Following, Full-Range POV, Vortex, and Go mode. It also includes special stationary modes that allow for the creation of panoramas, timelapse, motion lapse, and long exposure timelapse. For social media content creation, the gimbal is able to support vertical video recording as well.
Other than that, it features a built-in focus wheel that enables for remote digital and manual focus control, a 0.96-inch OLED display for navigation, and 12 hours of run time via three removable Li-Ion batteries. Lastly, the Crane 2S includes a dedicated slot for installing an image transmitter which allows the user to attach a monitor for live monitoring via the TransMount Image Transmission System.
The Zhiyun Crane 2S is available now through the company’s official website and is priced at USD599 (~RM2,500). Local availability and pricing have not been announced at this time.
