Ghost of Tsushima is a great game, and it looks like it’s going to become better pretty soon. Its devs, Sucker Punch Productions, just made a surprise announcement that the game is getting a free co-op multiplayer component soon. It will be called Ghost of Tsushima: Legends.
Unlike the main game that’s based on historical events, Legends will lean a lot more towards Japanese mythology. From the looks of the trailer, you’ll be doing some demon slaying in this mode. There’s also a class system going on, with four distinct ones – Samurai, Hunter, Ronin and Assassin.
There looks to be three main modes to Ghost of Tsushima: Legends as well. The first is a two-player co-op story mode, with the second being a four-player survival of sorts. To be added later is what Sucker Punch calls a raid, something that’s normally full-on MMO territory.
Introducing #GhostOfTsushima: Legends, a new co-op multiplayer mode inspired by Japanese mythology that will be a free download for Ghost of Tsushima owners this fall!

It’s been just a month since Ghost of Tsushima was released, and already it’s getting free additional content. But considering its nature, I’m being very cautiously optimistic. The last time a game tried something similar was Final Fantasy XV with its Comrades mode. And that, well, let’s just say it had issues.
But whether or not Ghost of Tsushima: Legends will be better, it won’t take too long to find out. Sucker Punch says this multiplayer component will be out in fall 2020.
