If your palms sweat easily, then the idea of gaming for hours on end may not be a pleasant one. There’s a gaming mouse maker called Zephyr that aims to solve this problem. The company is making a mouse with the same name that comes with a fan built into the peripheral.
The company is calling the Zephyr mouse the “world’s first sweatproof gaming mouse”. Which is where the built-in fan comes into play. It comes with three settings when turned on – 4000RPM, 7000RPM, and the full 10000RPM. It’s got a potentially trypophobia-inducing pores on the shell for the air to get to your palm. And naturally, as with almost anything gaming these days, it’s got RGB lighting.
Of course, this presents a number of problems. One is, obviously, the fact that it’s a 10000RPM fan in the mouse. Noise could be a very real issue with this. Then there’s the fact that it has to expose the fan for airflow, which will allow dirt to enter. Cleaning is another issue, but chances are the Zephyr can be disassembled beyond the outer plate. Other features include up to 16000 DPI with a dedicated DPI switching button, and two additional buttons on the left side.
The Zephyr will only head to Kickstarter on 22 July. But for now, you can head to its website to register your interest for it. The company is currently giving the Zephyr mouse a “super early bird” price of US$79 (~RM337), possibly with an additional 50% discount on top.
