The Volvo S60 T8 CKD variant has been officially launched in Malaysia. This model features similar specifications with the CBU version that was launched back in October 2019, but with several new features and is also fully assembled locally in Volvo’s Shah Alam factory.
Like the CBU release, the new vehicle features the T8 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid which consists of a supercharged and turbocharged Drive-E 2.0 litre petrol engine. The e-AWD (All-Wheel Drive) system is capable of delivering a total output of 407hp and 640Nm of torque, which Volvo claims could achieve 0-100km/h in just 4.4 seconds. Specifically, its electric motor outputs at 87hp and 240Nm, while the Drive-E petrol engine produces 320hp and 400Nm.
In terms of its electric and hybrid specifications, the new S60 is equipped with a 11.5kWh lithium-ion PHEV battery, which could provide an electric range of up to 49km. To keep it juiced up, the vehicle comes with an onboard 3.7kW charger with Type-2 connection support. A full charge can be achieved in about three hours via an outlet that outputs 3.7kW or more, according to Volvo.
Much like last year’s variant, the Volvo S60 T8 CKD features the same exterior silhouette with R-Design stylings, as well as the same 19-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the vehicle is decked out with Charcoal Fine Nappa Leather contoured seats and tailored dashboard. Adding to the ambience is an immersive 600-watt 14-speaker system powered by Harman Kardon that is linked to a Sensus Connect infotainment system.
Other specs wise includes Dynamic Chassis with passive damping, a heads-up display, panoramic sunroof, sensor activated powered tailgate, and a 360-degree surround-view camera. Some features found in the CBU variant have been omitted in the CKD model, which includes the foldable rear seats, tie-down hooks, 12V socket, and storage netting in the boot.
The Volvo S60 T8 CKD is priced at RM295,888 on-the-road without insurance, and is available for viewing at all Volvo authorised showrooms and distributors. Additionally, the vehicle is covered with a 5-year/100,000 km warranty and an 8-year PHEV warranty coverage for its hybrid battery.
