Since its first reveal two years ago, we’ve been waiting for the release of Streets of Rage 4 with bated breath. And finally, after 20 months, we get a release date for the game. Not to mention a sequel in the series after 26 years.
The announcement came as part of a new trailer released by its developer DotEmu on its YouTube Channel. Also part of the trailer is the announcement of the game’s Battle Mode. This game mode turns the side-scrolling game into a simple fighting game instead, having you fight other players instead of AI opponents.
Streets of Rage 4 will come with two-player online coop, as well as four-player local coop. It features five main playable characters, allowing nearly the entire cast to be playable a the same time. If you get nostalgia pangs while playing the game, you can also pick characters from the older games, as well as the older iterations of current characters. This pushes the total playable character count up to 17.
At long last, we know that Streets of Rage 4 will be available starting 30 April 2020. It will be available on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, which covers pretty much all the gaming platforms out there today.
