Movement Control Order Period To Be Extended To 14 April 2020

PM Muhyiddin Yassin has announced the Movement Control Order (MCO) period will be extended to 14 April 2020. This means that the MCO period will become 2 weeks longer than the original end date which is supposed to take place on 31 March.

In the live speech, PM Muhyiddin stated that the National Security Council (MKN) expects that the amount of COVID-19 cases will continue to increase if the further action is taken. While the on-going MCO effort has slightly slowed down the spread of the pandemic, the Government feels that we still need to do more to reach zero new cases.

Once again, PM Muhyiddin insists that food supplies are sufficient, and nobody should embark on panic buying. All ministries have been instructed to prepare for the prolonged MCO period and make sure all critical services are in order including electric, water, sanitary, irrigation, communications, logistic, and public safety.

PM Muhyiddin has also confirmed that the government will be announcing a more comprehensive set of economic stimuluses on top of all the efforts that have been announced before including the deferment of loans and PTPTN repayment as well as EPF withdrawals.

Meanwhile, do continue to exercise good hygiene and stay home as much as possible throughout the MCO period. The MCO might be a huge hassle but together, we are doing our part to overcome this pandemic.
