Those looking forward to UEFA Champions League matches happening next week will have to wait longer. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak in Europe, UEFA has announced that all league matches including Champions League, Europa, and UEFA Youth has been postponed until further notice.
Champions League matches originally scheduled for next week include Manchester City v Real Madrid, Juventus v Lyon, Barcelona v Napoli, and Bayern Munich v Chelsea. Additionally, the organisation confirmed that Champions League and Europa quarter-final draws on 20 March have been postponed as well.
UEFA will hold a video conference meeting on 17 March to discuss European football’s response to the outbreak. The conference will involve representatives of its associations, as well as the boards of the European Club Association and the European Leagues, and a representative of FIFPro.
Additionally, the organisation adds that further decisions on when these matches take place will be communicated in due course. On a separate note, the English Premier League also recently had its upcoming matches postponed due to coronavirus concerns.
