Matt Reeve’s The Batman has been pumping up the hype lately as set photos, casting announcements, and plot details of the upcoming superhero project began surfacing. Over the past couple o’ weeks, we’ve had some pretty good looks at the Dark Knight himself, which seems to draw inspiration from Frank Miller’s Batman: Year One. We also saw the Caped Crusader take to the streets of Glasgow on a slide and sleek two-wheel ride (“slide” because Batman slid and fell during the shoot – look it up, it makes me chuckle every time).
But where was the brawn in that? Where did the other pair of hot wheels go?
Fret not, as we just obtained our first look at the newest edition of the Batmobile thanks to the director himself. Matt Reeves took to Twitter this morning to share a triad of images featuring Battinson’s new ride from The Batman!
Can we all say “na na na na na na na na na…”?
I actually dig this new concept for the Batmobile! Yeah, it’s simplistic, shying away from the more gun-metal grey militaristic stealth rides that accompanied both Bale’s and Affleck’s versions. This is exactly what the new reboot needed, to create a distinct and fresh tone for the film. The guns and gizmos? We’ve already witnessed all that. While it might certainly feel like a downgrade, do take note that this Batman is still a freshman as it is said to be his second year of vigilantism.
To sum it up, it’s a ditty-gritty Mad Max mashup with the classic Adam West auto, letting a growl emanate out through the front grille. Th It definitely looks like it could end up in a universe where cars parachuted out of a plane and the drivers survived upon landing. wink*
The Batman, stars Robert Pattinson as the title character, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Colin Farrell as The Penguin, Paul Dano as The Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and John Turturro as Carmine Falcone. The film will be swooping into theatres in the summer of 2021.
