Opensignal has recently released yet another mobile experience report which covers plenty of markets throughout the world including Malaysia. A follow-up to the 2018 report, the new report focuses on video experience.

Involving 100 countries with more than 37.6 million devices, the 2019 State of Mobile Video Experience report was based on data that was collected from 1 August to 30 October 2019. According to Opensignal, Malaysia has performed slightly better than last year.

For example, Malaysia’s Video Experience score for 2019 has increased to 54.5 points as opposed to 46.76 points in the 2018 report. This has also improved Malaysia’s ranking within Asia Pacific from no 13 to no 11.

Despite the improvements, Malaysia’s rating remains as Fair although we only need less than one point to make a jump into the Good category. With that, we hope that our telcos will collectively take the necessary steps to continuously improve mobile video experience in Malaysia especially as we moving forward into the 5G era.
