Tecware Phantom 96 Mechanical Keyboard Now Available; Retails For RM179

Tecware Malaysia recently launched its Phantom 96 mechanical keyboard in the country. The mechanical keyboard is unique, featuring a combined numerical pad and arrow keys, but in a compact hybrid design.

Like most gaming mechanical keyboards today, the Phantom 96 features backlit RGB lighting, complete with the ubiquitous 16.8 million colours and 18 preset lighting modes. Moreover, it’s a per-key RGB setup, meaning that users can pick individual colours for each keyswitch or create their own colour combination for it.

The hybrid factor of the Phantom 96 actually manifests itself in two forms: TKL mode and Numpad mode. Users can easily switch between the two via a dedicated keyswitch at the top-right corner, but from the looks of it, you can’t have both modes active at the same time.

For its keyswitches, the Phantom 96 uses Outemu switches and is available in three flavours – Blue, Brown, and Red. For the uninitiated, Outemu Blue has a tactile and clicky feel, is loud, and the highest required actuation force at 60g. Outemu Brown is just tactile with an actuation force of 55g, while Outemu Red is the one with the Linear keystrokes, making it the most silent of the option.

Tecware’s also taken cable management into consideration with the Phantom 96, providing a detachable USB-C cable and routing path at the base of the keyboard.

The Tecware Phantom 96 is already available at all authorised resellers and in all three keyswitch variants. Regardless of the keyswitch options, the keyboard will retail at an SRP of RM179.
