The idea of an esports education program isn’t entirely new to the Malaysian esports team, as we have already had attempts to establish such programs with the Academy of Esports and APU’s Esports Malaysia Academy. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t alot more room for esports education in Malaysia continue to expand.

Now, Malaysian esports team Geek Fam is stepping into the realm of esports education with the announcement of their new esports tuition program known as the Geek Academy.

In surprising and exciting move by the organisation, Geek Fam has actually partnered with the Academy of Esports in order to establish the Geek Academy, with the previous Academy of Esports branding being assimilated under the banner of the Geek Academy to make way for the new unified branding and operations of the Geek Academy. As such, the original Academy of Esports Facebook page has now been renamed and rebranded to serve as the official Facebook page of the Geek Academy.

The Geek Academy will be operating at the Geek Arena, an esports arena concept hub owned by the Geek Fam esports organisation and located in Lot 10 Shopping Centre in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur.

As of right now, the Geek Academy tuition program offers training session for Dota 2 and CSGO, where students will be taught valuable skills for budding esports players, centered around the Geek Academy’s 3 learning pillars of cognitive abilities, mental fortitude and social intelligence.

According to Geek Fam, the program offered by the academy is designed to be accessible and caters not only to hardcore gamers who are trying to make a living in the competitive scene, but also to casual gamers who want to improve and gain more enjoyment from playing esports titles.

Based on what we can see from the information available on the Geek Academy’s website and brochure, it seems that Geek Fam and the Academy of Esports have been working closely together to carefully craft an enriching educational experience with some very insightful learning pillars that will definitely be beneficial to anyone who is willing to enroll and learn from the program.

As of right now, there is no public information available about who the specific instructors will be for the program, but Geek Fam has hinted that their professional Dota 2 team will make an appearance at the Geek Academy at some point. Also, given Geek Fam’s reputation as a prestigious esports organisation in Malaysia and their partnership with the Academy of Esports, it’s safe to presume that the instructors will be highly skilled and experienced esports professionals who will be delivering top-notch instruction.

Those who are interested in finding out more about the program can visit the Geek Academy web page here.
