If you heard that a company was to announce video games, Netflix wouldn’t be very high on the list of names you’d think of. But as was teased last month, Netflix has indeed made gaming related announcements. one of them being Stranger Things 3, based on the third season of the show.

Netflix also announced another game based on the show. This one is simply called Stranger Things, and it’s a location-based puzzle RPG. Think of it as Pokémon Go, but based on the Upside Down. And yes, it will be a mobile game.

We’re super excited to announce our collaboration with @netflix! Our @Stranger_Things mobile game is slated for release in 2020! Read more: https://t.co/8UB9cxZXJP #strangerthings #e3 #e32019 #gamedev pic.twitter.com/u5Wl57rBPX

The game is being developed in partnership with Finnish developer Next Games. Since it’s a location-based game, it will be using Google Maps to create puzzles. There will be social elements to the game as well, which is not surprising considering the nature of the game.

Stranger Things is scheduled to be released in 2020, on iOS and Android. The third season of the show, on the other hand, will be on Netflix on 4 July 2019, alongside the game based on the new season.
