HTC Set To Launch Blockchain-Focused Exodus On 22 October

A teaser has appeared on HTC’s Instagram account, somewhat detailing its Exodus smartphone. As per our earlier report, the Exodus is company’s first blockchain-focused smartphone – and it is launching this 22 October.

Not much is known about the device. Presumably, the smartphone will feature “a cold wallet with key recovery” that essentially stores blockchain data. It may also be the first phone to be able to store your personal encryption key on the device, bypassing cloud storage altogether.

From the teaser, we can expect an opaque-back design, just like the HTC U12+. Whether it will feature any wireless charging is unknown at this point.

It’s been a slow couple of years for HTC. Earlier in the year, the company laid off several office staff from its US office, while leaving only HTC Global personnel alone to handle day-to-day operations. The company is also faced with market pressure from brands like Samsung, LG, Xiaomi and Apple. But, the company is looking to come back to the fore of the consumer space.

Regardless of the brand’s current state, we can only wait and see what the HTC Exodus will be bringing to the table this 22 October.
