It was barely two months after TCL unveiled the BlackBerry KEY2 which is now readily available in Malaysia but the BlackBerry family of Android devices has grown again. Just last week, another BlackBerry Inc’s licensee, Optiemus Infracom Ltd has unveiled the Evolve and Evolve X in India.

A quick glance at the phones will tell you it’s missing something pretty important for a BlackBerry Phone: the physical keyboard. That aside, both phones actually shared plenty of common features.

Among them are 16MP front-facing camera that’s also used for their face unlocking feature, a 4000mAh battery, Android 8.1 Oreo with BlackBerry’s DTEK overlay, a fingerprint sensor round the back, 64GB of internal storage, and an 18:9 FHD+ (2160×1080) display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

On to the differences between the two, the Evolve comes with a 13MP RGB + 13MP monochrome camera setup, while the Evolve X has a 12MP +13MP setup with PDAF and 4K recording. The standard Evolve also comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 with 4GB of RAM, while the Evolve X has got a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 with 6GB of RAM.

As for pricing, the BlackBerry Evolve is priced at INR 24990, which translates to about RM1484. The Evolve X, on the other hand, is INR 34990, which is RM2078 after conversion. For now, there is no information on whether these phones will be available outside of India or otherwise.
