Tesla Is Adding Classic Atari Games To Its Vehicles

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has tweeted that some classic Atari games will be added as Easter eggs in the upcoming Tesla V9.0 vehicle software update. The update will be released in few weeks time, which might include Pole Position, Tempest and Missile Command according to tweets from Elon.

It is quite interesting to note that, for Pole Position, the controls will be linked to the car’s actual steering wheel when you’re not actually driving. It would be dangerous to say the least for someone to be driving on real roads while also driving on make-believe ones in a video game using the same steering wheel.

Hoping to include last three in this release, with pole position linked to actual car steering wheel (while stationary tbc haha)

Elon has also tweeted out a call for game developers to join Tesla.  This may indicate that he means for games to be more than just an Easter egg within the Tesla system.

It remains to be seen if Teslas will be able to run these games smoothly, especially the non-classics resulting from this recruitment call. That said, if it all goes smoothly, Tesla owners may spend as great a deal in the car while parked as they would while driving on the road.

If you’re into video game development, consider applying to Tesla. We want to make super fun games that integrate the center touch screen, phone & car irl.

For those who are not interested into turning their Tesla cars into arcade cabinets, the V9.0 update also enables “full self-driving features” in eligible vehicles, according to an older tweet by Musk.
