The vivo Nex was officially launched in Malaysia today. As per our earlier report, the phone is the latest and most premium flagship smartphone that the company has ever made.

Off the bat, the phone features its Ultra FullView 6.59-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display, with a screen-to-body ratio of 91.24%. Specs-wise, the phone houses Qualcomm’s top-of-the-line Snapdragon 845 SoC, 8GB of RAM, and a 128GB internal storage capacity (which is non-expandable).

Powering it all up is a pretty sizeable 4000mAh battery. Its main camera array uses a dual 12MP + 5MP array that also carries with it a 4-axis optical image stabilisation (OIS), while the front-facing camera uses an 8MP sensor.

The front-facing camera is perhaps one of the main highlights of the phone. Rather than taking the traditional camera-in-bezel design, the camera is actually built into the chassis of the phone, and mechanically pops out only when it is activated, and retracts when the camera app is not being used.  The second highlight of the vivo Nex is, of course, the in-display fingerprint scanner.

The phone comes with installed with Jovi, vivo’s own dedicated AI, along with a dedicated AI button. Much like Samsung’s Bixby, the button can be used to activate Jovi and its many AI-related services. Ports-wise the phone comes with a single USB Type-C port. Strangely enough, the phone’s dual SIM card tray is also located at the bottom at the phone.

On the software side, the phone ships out with vivo’s Funtouch OS 4.0, which runs in tandem with Google’s latest Android 8.1 Oreo OS.

The vivo Nex will be available at all official vivo stores and authorised resellers, as well as e-commerce sites such as Lazada, 11Street and Shopee, starting 28 July 2018. The phone will retail for RM2799.
