New Streamyx Promo Appears In The Wild: RM 90 for 4Mbps and Below; RM 100 for 8Mbps

Since earlier this month, we have noticed the appearance of new promotion for Streamyx which is also known as Broadband or pre-unifi depending on who you asked. Under this particular promotion, consumers apparently able to obtain the service for less than RM 100 as opposed to the current pricing which starts at RM 110.

Based on the images and Facebook postings that we have gathered for the past few days, the 1Mbps, 2Mbps, and 4Mbps packages have the same price of RM 90 per month. They also come standard with wireless router and DECT phone for free.

As for the 8Mbps package, it costs RM 100 per month and customers will also receive unifi TV set top box with access for basic unifi TV channels alongside wireless router and DECT phone. For comparison, the same package is currently priced at RM 160 per month.

There is one huge catch though: according to some of the Facebook listings, these packages are available only for new registration. In other words, this promotion is not applicable for existing Streamyx subscribers.

According to Rozeman who shared the image above as well as his conversation with unifi’s Twitter-based customer support, the promotion was apparently conceived as part of marketing strategy which could mean that it is only available in certain places. In a way, it seems like a repeat of last year’s RM 99 unifi Lite promotion that was eventually “delayed” by TM.

We are now reaching out to TM for further clarifications. So, stay tuned.
