Sony Malaysia has officially launched the RX100 VI in the country. As its namesake suggests, the camera is the sixth iteration of the series, and comes with several updates over the last model.
To start, the RX100 VI still comes in the same aluminium compact form factor. It’s also the first model in the series that comes equipped with a touchscreen; this finally giving users the ability to use either touch shutter or touch focus. Also, the screen is still tiltable up to 180 degrees upward and 90 degrees downward.
Lens-wise, the RX100 VI features a a 28-200mm zoom lens, along with a variable aperture of f/2.8 and f/4. The sensor is rated at 20.1MP and is supported by the latest BIONZ X imaging procesor with front-end LSI; a feature that is also found on the most recent Alpha cameras.
The RX100 VI also boasts a 0.03-second autofocus lock, which is a minor improvement over the last generation RX100 V’s 0.05-second autofocus system. The camera’s pop-up electronic viewfinder is still present, and last but not least, the camera supports 4K HDR via its new HLG picture profile.
The Sony RX100 VI will be available at all official Sony store and authorised resellers starting 20 July 2018, and will retail at an SRP of RM4899.
