First introduced in May 2017, Celcom EasyPhone allows customers to obtain their favorite smartphones through 24-months installment plan. Today, the telco has revealed additional options to the scheme including rental and upgrade their device at any given time.

What made the new rental option different from the original EasyPhone installment plan is that it comes with more affordable monthly fee. However, customers need to return the phone back to Celcom (in good condition, of course) after 24-months given its nature as a rental scheme.

Of course, customers can choose to keep the phone if they prefer although there will be a nominal fee involved. At the moment, there are apparently around 20 devices across multiple price point that are available under the EasyPhone rental option.

Among examples given by Celcom include Vivo V9, Huawei P20, Samsung Galaxy S9, Apple iPhone 8, and Apple iPhone X which can be obtained for monthly fee of RM 35, RM 52, RM 79, RM 55, and RM 99 respectively. The differences between rental and traditional installment fee for these phones can be seen below:

As for the device upgrade option which is also known as Easy Switch, it allows users to change their devices at any time during their EasyPhone contract tenure. All they need to do is to pay a one-time upgrade fee which can be as low as RM 120.

That being said, the full details regarding all the new EasyPhone options above will only be made available on Celcom’s website in due time. Nevertheless, the wait should not be long though since their roll out will take place on 1 June 2018.
