Huawei slipped a trio of accessories into the launch of the P20 and P20 Plus in Paris, with the most interesting being the FreeBuds. These resemble the Apple AirPod, and have more or less the same function as wireless Bluetooth earbuds.
Unlike the AirPods, Huawei has made the Freebuds available in two colours – black and white. It’s also a lot cheaper at €159 (RM760), and is capable of lasting 10 hours on a single charge; twice that of the AirPod.
Bluetooth earphones are becoming a more attractive prospect for manufacturers, as most smartphones are dropping the audiojack. Making wireless connections something that is actually necessary for a large number of consumers. Of course, it’s difficult to say how well these things have been selling on the market.
The innovation doesn’t stop with the #HuaweiP20… We’ve also launched a whole new range of accessories including HUAWEI FreeBuds, HUAWEI Active Noise Cancellation Earphone, HUAWEI Moonlight Selfie Stick, and the HUAWEI Band 2 Pro. pic.twitter.com/ESHFQ7ukPa

The other two accessories announced were the Huawei Active Noise Canceling Earphones 3 and a new DAC Headphone Amplifier. The amplifier apparently uses an “audiophile-grade” digital-to-analog converter, although it probably won’t be as good due to size constraints.
