Google has allowed users to try apps without downloading them since 2016 through Android Instant Apps. Now, it’s extending the feature to games as well; launching Google Play Instant at Game Developers Conference 2018.
Play Instant is pretty much the same as the original feature announced two years ago. Users are able to tap on the ‘Try Now’ button to instantly launch the app; the necessary files and assets will be downloaded in the background while the game loads.
There’s only a handful of Instant games available at the moment, with Google planning to bring more developers into the programme.
We haven’t been able to see the button just yet on the Malaysian Google Play store, but it could be a matter of the update not reaching here yet. However, the blog announcement says that the feature is available worldwide; so it might just be a matter of waiting to see what it’s like.
