Word on the street is Spotify is preparing to branch into its first physical products. A job posting on the company’s website indicates just that, although it provides few details about what kind of hardware is being created.

The Swedish based company has been hunting for a team that can lead its foray into hardware products since last year. That seems to be continuing in its search for individuals suited to be the Project Manager, Senior Project Manager and Operations Managers.

Odds are Spotify is planning some kind of device that can complement its popular music streaming service. The company hasn’t announced any specific type of hardware that it plans to make. But one can imagine that Spotify is making its own smart speaker that can rival Apple’s HomePod or other smart speakers offered by Google or Amazon.

Spotify had previously stated that it wants to create a products that similar to the Pebble Watch, Amazon Echo and Snapchat Spectacles. That implies that the planned product could be something unique that can extend users usage of its music streaming platform. There is currently one Spotify-focused third-party product on the market. The Mighty – which was released last year is an iPod like music player that plays songs from your Spotify library.

There has been no indication on when we can expect Spotify to release the product or even what it happens to be.
