Not related to the Niantic game announced last year, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is a new mobile RPG set in the J.K Rowling wizarding universe. In the game you get to become a student of Hogwarts School of Magic and learn everything to be a wizard yourself.
Developed by Jam City (who also developed Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow and Marvel’s Avenger Academy), the game will let players participate in activities in Hogwarts as depicted in the movies and books. Learn magic from classes such as Defense Against the Dark Arts, Potions and Dueling Club to progress through the school year.
Most of the teachers from the book series and movies will be present, including Professor Snape and Hagrid. Timeline wise, the game is set before Harry Potter sets foot into the magical school. Like Harry, players will be sorted into houses and take part in group challenges to win points for the house. Plus, as this is an online game, there will be a leaderboard as well as in-game purchases should one wish to leap ahead from the competition.
Jam City did not specify any dates for the release apart from a Spring 2018 release. Interested players can head to the official website to pre-register and join in the fun. The game is published by Portkey Games, the same publisher for Harry Potter Wizards Unite from Niantic and will be available for both Android and iOS devices.
