Lazada’s 12/12 sale saw quite a number of steep discounts on various products, and it generated the platform a whopping $250 million (that’s about RM1.01 billion) in Gross Merchandise Value (GMV), breaking Lazada’s 11/11 GMV of $123 million (approximately over RM500 million). On top of that, Malaysians bought…pretty interesting items during the sale period too.
One of the most noteworthy stats from Lazada’s 12/12 sale was the number of iPhones shipped: more than 1,500 iPhones were sold between 12 to 14 December. Aside from that, about 7,500 bags of pet food were sold in the same time frame too – Malaysians seem to really love their pets.
Interestingly, Lazada’s 12/12 sale also saw increased orders from areas outside of Kuala Lumpur, which include Kangar, Tawau, Lundu, and Kota Kinabalu. The highest number of orders, on the other hand, come from Selangor, Penang, Johor, and Perak.
Here are other interesting stats from Lazada’s 12/12 sale:
- More than 8,000 lipsticks were sold in the first 24 hours.
- About 26,000 toys and games were sold.
- More than 227,000 pieces of fashion apparels were ordered.
Based on these stats, it’s clear that Malaysians are willing to shop on e-commerce sites like Lazada, especially if the deals are good. It extends beyond just electronics too, which is interesting to see.
