Illegear has yet another new laptop on sale for the holiday season. The new Illegear S7 Elite sounds like an upgraded version of the existing S7, but it includes completely new hardware and an improved chassis. For all intents and purposes, it might as well be a different laptop.
The chassis of the S7 Elite is half a centimetre thinner than its lesser cousin, and comes in at a hair wider. It’s also completely redesigned to be far sleeker, with lines approaching something of a more traditional gaming laptop. That said, the stock 17.3-inch is still the FHD IPS panel from the S7; although Illegear now also offers an upgrade to a 4K panel.
Inside is an Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor (with an option for a Core i7-7820HK). Graphics are provided by an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 6GB, or a GTX 1070 8GB. Both of which firmly place the S7 Elite in the middle ground of the gaming laptop market. Sadly, the stock version only ships with 8GB RAM. Which means that most customers should be looking for memory addons in the customisation options.
Stock storage comes in the form of a 120GB SSD and 1TB 7200RPM HDD. Illegears usual storage customisation options are here, allowing those with extra cash to load up on up one M.2 PCIe SSD, one M.2 SATA SSD, and one SATA HDD.
The stock Illegear S7 Elite costs RM7,299, and includes the RGB lit keyboard and a solitary Thunderbolt 3 port. It’s currently available through Illegear’s website.
