Facebook recently updated its Messenger service, bringing full Apple Music integration. Similar to Facebook Messenger’s Spotify extension, the Apple Music integration allow users to listen to music right from Messenger app. However unlike Spotify, it allow users to stream full songs; this is the first of its kind for Facebook Messenger.
As expected, this service is only available for Apple Music subscribers. Non subscribers can still stream and share music on Facebook Messenger, however, the songs will be limited to 30 seconds only.
To start listening to Apple Music songs on Facebook Messenger, just add Apple Music’s Messenger chatbot. Once done, you will see Apple Music’s extension on your Facebook Messenger app when you tap on the “+” sign in your conversation. Add the Apple Music extension, and you will be able to start sharing your favourite music with your friends and family.
Alternatively, you can also chat with Apple Music’s chat bot to find music. Tell the chat bot to open a song, listen to its suggestions, or even send emoji to Apple Music to see what songs it suggest you listen to; it’s pretty fun though, it sometimes chooses to ignore my emojis.
This is not the first time Facebook is integrating music streaming services to its Messenger app. It already has Spotify extension that can suggest music for you to listen to based on your conversations. Just a couple of months ago, they also added the possibility for you to create a Spotify playlist together with your friends right from the Messenger app.
