The much awaited Mewtwo has arrived in Pokemon Go, along with a new type of raid. As expected, the legendary Pokemon will only be found in these “Exclusive Raid Battles”. And getting into them is a little complicated.
Exclusive raids are special raids that require an invitation to join. Actually getting an invitation is both extremely difficult and very easy to obtain. All players have to do is have successfully completed a raid at the Pokemon Gym where the Exclusive Raid is going to happen. This has to have been completed “recently”, although Niantic hasn’t share the specifics on what the time limit happens to be.
Thankfully, the invites to Exclusive Raids will be sent out ahead of time (again, with no indication of how much time) so that players can arrange to meet up at the location.
Mewtwo is set to be the first legendary in the Exclusive Raids, with more Pokemon set to appear in this manner. Chances are that the more sought after Pokemon will be moved to Exclusive Raids.
In the mean time, Niantic is having an encore party for Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, and Lugia. All four legendaries have returned as raids until 31 August; giving players another chance at hunting them down.
