It’s been a while since we’ve heard about a new Z270 motherboard; probably because 300-series motherboards are coming soon. That aside, Colorful has just unveiled its newest motherboard called the iGame Z270 Ymir U. According to Colorful, this motherboard is “designed for gamers.” In addition, the company also claims this motherboard to be its most powerful Z270-based mainboard as well.
Indeed it may be powerful, but the Colorful iGame Z270 Ymir U’s design doesn’t necessarily reflect this. Instead, the Chinese motherboard manufacturer has chosen to go with a minimalistic design approach. The iGame Z270 Ymir U motherboard features an all black PCB along with a few components that are coloured in silver. This motherboard does come with RB elements though, so that’s a plus.
Specifications-wise, the Colorful iGame Z270 Ymir U motherboard comes fitted with three PCIe x16 slots; two PCIe x1 slots; four DIMM DDR4 RAM slots; two M.2 32Gbps slots; as well as six SATA 6Gbps ports. Unfortunately, Colorful made no mention of the price and date of availability of its iGame Z270 Ymir U motherboard.
That said, if you’ve got a Skylake or Kaby Lake processor lying around that are in dire need for a new motherboard, you may want to consider the iGame Z270 Ymir U. Despite this, it’s best to wait for a couple more months until Coffee Lake CPUs and Intel’s 300-series motherboards arrive. As most of you may have already known: Coffee Lake processors aren’t backwards compatible.
