vivo V5 Price Revised; Now Going for RM1,099

Introduced in Malaysia late last year, the vivo V5 has just received a price revision. Originally going for RM1,299 at launch, the V5 is now retailing at RM1,099; that’s quite a decent price drop.

Of course, even with this price drop, there are other mid-range smartphones – like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 – that offer better value for money than the vivo V5. However, the V5 does have its own appeals; its 20MP front-facing camera, for one, is quite a capable shooter.

Other specifications of the V5 include a 5.5-inch 720p display, a MediaTek MT6750 octa-core processor paired with 4GB of RAM, 32GB of expandable storage, a 13MP rear camera, a 3,000mAh battery, and Funtouch OS 2.6 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. Aside from that, the V5 also has a metal build.

Another noteworthy feature of the vivo V5 is its dedicated AK4376 DAC; the very same DAC found in the newer vivo V5s. In our testing, this DAC does improve audio quality when listening to music with earphones.

The vivo V5 can now be purchased for RM1,099 at all vivo retail stores as well as online on Lazada. While it’s not the most impressive mid-range smartphone in the market, the V5’s 20MP front camera may appeal to certain consumers.
