It looks like Facebook has just redesigned its Messenger app, but don’t worry, they did not introduce a whole new interface. The company recently gave Messenger a minor makeover to make everything more organised, so you can easily access everything that matters most to you, and quickly pick up where you left off.
The latest Facebook Messenger update introduces three new tabs at the top of the app’s main screen – Messages, Active, and Groups. “Messages” has the same look as the previous interface, listing out all your latest messages. You can still see who is currently active, but instead of just listing out several contacts, you can use the Active tab to see a full list of all those who are currently online in Messenger. Groups has been relocated from the bottom of Messenger’s interface to the top, so you can quickly access your favourite Group conversations.
The bottom bar now features tabs to your Home screen, lets you make calls, take photos with the camera button, and search for people. Now that Facebook has rolled out Games on Messenger worldwide, including Malaysia, there is also a new dedicated tab at the bottom for Games.
According to David Marcus, the head of Messenger at Facebook, these changes will make Messenger simpler. The update will be rolled out worldwide on iOS and Android this week.
