Astro has just launched a new video streaming service in Malaysia. Dubbed NJOI Now, it provides free video streaming for virtually everyone. Of course, the service features Astro’s range of channels, including Astro Prima, Astro Oasis, Astro AEC, local sports on Astro Arena, as well Astro Tutor TV.
In some ways, this is an extension of Astro’s NJOI satellite TV service, which was launched back in December 2011. The difference here, of course, is the fact that NJOI Now is a video streaming service, and absolutely no payment is required to start enjoying (excuse the pun) the service.
Aside from the aforementioned free Astro channels available on NJOI Now, those who want access to Astro’s other range of premium content can also opt for the service’s prepaid options; it grants users instant access to channels like Astro Ria, Astro Wah Lai Toi, as well as a range of movies on Astro First and Astro Best. Interestingly, in conjunction with the launch of the service, Astro is offering free access to Astro Supersport 1 until 31 May.
Another noteworthy aspect of NJOI Now is its machine learning capability. Astro mention that the service features an “intelligent recommendation engine,” which shows the most relevant content to any given user. Users can also download content for offline viewing, although this ability is only limited to certain content.
NJOI Now is available to all Malaysians immediately, and the mobile app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store as well as the Apple App Store. Alternatively, NJOI Now can also be livestreamed here.
