It has been quite some time since Meizu did any launch event here in Malaysia, and we just received word that the Chinese company will be doing just that next week. At the launch event, Meizu will be introducing five of its smartphones in Malaysia, including its latest flagship, the Meizu Pro 6 Plus, as well as the mid-range Meizu M5 Note.

Among the five devices that will be officially launched next week, the Pro 6 Plus (which retails at RM1,999) is the most interesting. It features a 5.7-inch QHD Super AMOLED display, an Exynos 8890 processor – the same one found in the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge – paired with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM, 64GB of non-expandable storage, 12MP rear and 5MP front-facing cameras, a fingerprint sensor, as well as a 3,400mAh battery.

The M5 Note, on the other hand, is the more affordable device with a RM849 price tag. It has a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS display, a MediaTek Helio P10 processor paired with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of expandable storage, 13MP rear and 5MP front-facing shooters, a fingerprint sensor at the front, and a sizeable 4,000mAh battery.

Aside from these two smartphones, Meizu plans to launch three other devices as well, although the company did not specify them. More likely than not, the Meizu M5 is one of them, considering the fact that the device has been made available here for quite some time now.

Meizu smartphones usually offer great value for money, and it’s great to see that the company plans to be more active in Malaysia; we should be learning more about Meizu’s plans in our market at its launch event next week on 11 April.
