Time Fibre Gives Speed Upgrade For Free, New Plans From 100Mbps To 500Mbps

Time Fibre has just launched its newly revamped plans which offer faster Internet speeds while retaining the same monthly commitment fee. The company’s latest Internet offerings range from 100Mbps to a whopping 500Mbps package.

For existing Time Fibre customers, you should be receiving a confirmation email regarding the upgrade of your current plan. Customers on the 15Mbps Time Fibre plan will automatically be upgraded to the new 300Mbps plan, whereas customers with the 8Mbps plan will now get to enjoy 100Mbps speeds. New customers can immediately sign up for these plans, but they do come with a two-year contract.

We’ve contacted Time Fibre’s customer service department on its router’s compatibility, whether or not it is capable of supporting the new speeds. For existing customers, the router you’re using is only capable of supporting up to 100Mbps, and Time will not be replacing the router for you. This also means that to enjoy the new speeds, existing customers will need to purchase a new compatible router.

[UPDATE @ 3:15pm] Time has reached out to us with the following comment:

Most of our existing customers are on ZTE ZXHN H298N (GE port) router which is capable of supporting up to 475Mbps on LAN (if they are upgraded to 500Mbps). It is of course subject to user’s device capabilities as well.

For new customers who sign up for the 100Mbps and 300Mbps Time plans, you will be getting the D-Link DIR850L router, while those who subscribe to the 500Mbps plan will be getting the Linksys EA6350. These plans have unlimited quota and comes with symmetrical speeds. If you’re on the 500Mbps plan, you’ll be getting 500Mbps for both download and upload.

Time is also offering an annual 2,000 minutes call pack for RM10/month, which comes with a one-year contract. Otherwise, you can still make calls at 9 sen/min to both fixed and mobile numbers.

With Time Fibre’s new plans, Malaysian consumers now have the option to go even faster with up to 500Mbps speeds – unheard of in Malaysia. Other than that, these plans are more affordable compared to TM and Maxis’ current Fibre plans. That said, it would be interesting to see how Time’s competitors will respond to Time Fibre’s latest plans.

The only worrying thing is Time Fibre’s coverage. To check if your area is covered, click here. Those interested in learning more about Time’s new Fibre Home Broadband plans, head on to the official website.

Thanks for the tip, Feleon!
