AMD has announced that it will be offering free games to users that own selected GPUs, APUs and CPUs from the company. AMD dubs the promotion as AMD4U, and there will be in total, 13 games being offered.
Before we get to the good part, there is one particular detail that is worth noting. According to AMD, one can only be eligible for the promotion if they own pre-made systems and laptops from OEMs such as Acer, Alienware, Dell, HP, Lenovo and a few others.
This means that owners with custom built PCs will most probably not be eligible for the contest. However, users of participating OEM laptops shouldn’t have a problem claiming their free game. Eligible AMD products include selected FX and A series processors; along with several Radeon R9, R7 and R9 graphics cards. The full list of eligible AMD products and participating OEMs and system builders can be found here.
To redeem a game, one has to first register for an account at AMD4U’s website. After doing so, one will then be prompted to download a software that will detect whether or not the particular system is eligible for the offer. If successful, AMD will then send out an e-mail containing a link that will allow one to redeem their free game key.
Despite this, there are several users facing problems redeeming their free games. Thankfully, AMD managed to include a support page to assist consumers with such problems. The promotion is currently ongoing and will conclude by the end of this year. More information regarding the offer can be found here.
