Astro EPL

When it comes to English Premier League (EPL), Astro is certainly one of the main platform for many football fans in Malaysia to watch matches from the hugely popular league. Looks like it will remain so for at least three more seasons as the satellite-based pay TV operator has announced that the company has secured EPL’s broadcast rights from 2016/17 to 2018/19.

According to Henry Tan, the Chief Operating Officer of Astro, customers will able to catch all 380 EPL matches on each season in full HD through its platform. Additionally, customers will also able to catch these matches online through mobile devices with the help of Astro On-The-Go.

At the same time, Henry also pointed out other major sports events that Astro will broadcast in 2016 which include UEFA Euro 2016, Rio 2016 Summer Olympics, and Thomas & Uber Cup 2016. In general, this means that sports fans will have plenty of action to look forward on Astro this year.

Meanwhile, we can only imagine how much Astro has forked out to retain the EPL broadcast rights since neither the company nor Premier League have revealed the cost behind the deal. Let’s just hope that the cost can still be handled by Astro without the need for it to revise its subscription fees.
