The new variants of Samsung’s Gear S2 Classic smartwatches will be arriving in Malaysia within the first half of the year. Specifically, the new variants will be arriving soon after the release of the Galaxy TabPro S Windows 10 tablet.
There will be two new variants of the Gear S2 smartwatch, and both bring a premium touch to what is already a very handsome smartwatch. The 18K Rose Gold plated and Platinum editions cater for those looking for a more upscale version of the Gear S2.
In addition, Samsung also noted that more watchfaces will be introduced for the Gear S2 in conjunction with the release of the new Gear S2 variants. These will include classy new faces from artists and designers, as well as a Snoopy watchface. Apple has Mickey, and Samsung now has Snoopy.
Speaking of Apple, Samsung again reaffirmed its intentions to bring iOS compatibility to the Gear S2. This may prove an interesting move by the South Korean giants, as to date there are few, if any genuine competitor to the Apple Watch.
Samsung did not disclose about the prices for the Rose Gold and Platinum editions of the Gear S2, but noted that since they are made from premium materials, we can expect them to cost a little higher. A Samsung rep confirmed that both models will not exceed RM2,000, however.
