ASRock Outs “SuperCarrier” Motherboard Teaser

by Nasir Rabik

ASRock has released a teaser for its upcoming motherboard which it interestingly dubs as the “SuperCarrier”. According to a press release by the company, the SuperCarrier will be debuting sometime in 2017. That said, ASRock did not specifically mention whether the motherboard will be made to cater for AMD or Intel processors.

Unfortunately, aside from saying “New year is just around the corner. Are you ready to take off with ASRock’s new SuperCarrier in the upcoming 2017?” the company, again, did not provide any other additional information regarding its new product. The teaser itself provides us with very little indication of what the SuperCarrier may be – probably for us to endlessly ponder until its release.

Fret not, you can always count on leaks to provide ‘unreleased’ information. Folks at eTeknix have stumbled upon a “mail-in rebate form for the month of January” from MIRhelp, which surprisingly contains all of ASRock’s unannounced H270 and Z270 motherboards. Sure enough, a Z270 motherboard with the SuperCarrier branding was included.

Judging by the details found by the tech site, it seems that the ASRock Z270 SuperCarrier will be the company’s flagship ATX Z270 motherboard. Several specifications were also stated: an Intel LGA 1151 socket, DDR4 support, four PCIe x 16 ports, one HDMI port, two USB 3.1 ports, nine USB 3.0 ports, and built-in WiFi. Aside from those, details about ‘new’ features and design was not mentioned.

Being a flagship motherboard means that the ASRock Z270 SuperCarrier motherboard may not come at an affordable price. Based on a price list found on NCIX’s website, it looks like the upcoming ASRock motherboard will be priced at CAD$590 (about RM1,961) Obviously, the motherboard will be priced differently once it reaches our shores.
