In line with its global efforts, Samsung has now set up exchange booths for the Galaxy Note 7 at KLIA and KLIA2. Those who own the now-discontinued Note 7 can opt for a refund or exchange at the booth, allowing those who are overseas to not have to fly with a Note 7 device which has been banned on airplanes.
Samsung has been responding to issues faced by Note 7 owners in various countries who were unable to board flights unless they surrendered it to ground staff. The company has now issued clear guidelines to manage those who own Note 7 smartphones but are out of the country of purchase.
An exchange booth has been set up in both KLIA (Level 5, Main Terminal (beside Emirates ticketing counter)) and KLIA2 (Mezzanine Level, Departure Hall, Sector 2), allowing you to return the device and board your flight. This applies to all Note 7 owners, regardless of where the device has been purchased from.
For those who are part of the pre-order campaign in Malaysia, a local customer support staff will contact you to arrange the exchange or refund process. Meanwhile, a Samsung representative confirms that loan units consisting of Galaxy S7 edge, Galaxy A7 (2016), and Galaxy J7 models are made available at the booths – though they are subject to availability.
Those who own a Note 7 purchased overseas can also visit the booth to return the Note 7, where they will receive an official “Samsung Galaxy Note7 Receipt”. This receipt is required for owners to proceed with the exchange or refund process in their home country. Loan units are also available for non-Malaysian Note 7 owners, and they can be returned in their home countries.
The booths are just two of many more such booths in international airports around the world. Samsung is ensuring it is taking every step necessary to prevent the device from entering aircraft, at the least inconvenience possible to owners.
If you own a Galaxy Note 7, Samsung urges you to power down your device and return them to Samsung. In Malaysia, you can opt for a full refund, or exchange for a Galaxy S7 edge with an additional cashback.
