Samsung Malaysia has announced that all Malaysian consumers who purchased a Galaxy Note 7 smartphone during the pre-order period can begin collecting their replacement units beginning 29 September 2016.

The statement, posted on its website as well as on Samsung Mobile Malaysia’s Facebook page earlier, also reveals that owners are not required to return their units to service centres as we were told during our conversation with Samsung’s Care hotline last week. They will need to return the device inside the retail box, together with all accessories (charger, USB cable and adapter, earphones) on the day of replacement.

Finally, Samsung has also confirmed that all owners are required to collect the replacement Note 7 at the location where the devices were collected after the pre-order period.

The move is part of a global recall for the Galaxy Note 7 due to concerns regarding a bad batch of batteries. The recall process is expected to cost Samsung up to $1 billion (about RM4.08 billion).
