Good things are worth waiting for and for those who have been patiently waiting for the Prisma photo editing app for Android, your wait is over. The app is now available for download from the Google Play Store.
Prisma first made its debut on iOS about a month ago. It is more than just a regular image editing app that lets you apply effects to your pictures. Prisma relies on artificial intelligence and “deep learning algorithms” to scan your image and properly applying the filters, turning “every photo into art”.
“We’re not just overlaying like an Instagram filter. We create the photo from scratch. So there is no photo, we took your photo, then perform some operations and give a new photo to you. So deep learning is like an artist, something like that.” – Alexey Moiseenkov, the CEO and co-founder of Prisma Labs Inc. told TechCrunch in an interview.
Prisma will take your photo and process on its remote servers. This will take a couple of seconds depending on your connection, but the results are worth it. If you are worried about privacy, the company says that they do not store any images, they don’t know who sent the photos and they won’t be able to access the photos at the server’s side.
Prisma started off with 20 filters and currently has about 36 filters, so it might take a while to go through them. Fortunately, the app is available for iOS and Android for free, and you can use all the filters on board without having to fork out any money.
Check out the app on the Google Play Store now.
