There are plenty of smartphones out there that are becoming increasingly hard to keep track of, so what does a new company need to do to stand out so people notices them? Try to have a unique selling point. Keecoo is a new Chinese smartphone manufacturer, and they recently launched the Keecoo K1, “the Smartphones for Women”.
So, how does one classify a smartphone for women? It’s small so it fits into the “small hands of women”, has some sort of beauty feature on its front camera, and a fancy design that strays away from the boring rectangle shape. The K1 has a unique hexagonal “Double V” design that stands out from normal smartphones. The company says that their “industrial designers spent months on the internal structure and component placement”.
To top that off, the display at the front has Antimicrobial Corning Gorilla Glass to keep your phone clean; if you get disturbed by the fact that your smartphone screen is filthy with more bacteria than an average toilet seat, this is the phone for you.
As for specifications, there is a 5” HD AMOLED display on board the Keecoo K1. It is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6735P processor with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage that is expandable via microSD card. There is a 13MP rear camera with 6P lens, quick PDAF focus and dual LED flash. The front has an 8MP shooter with “ultimate selfie software” that can automatically make “your skin look delicate and smooth”. Other specs include IP64 certified water resistant, 2300mAh battery on board, LTE connectivity, and runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box.
Sadly though, Keecoo Mobile did not mention anything about pricing and availability so let’s hope that it’s affordable because I think that’s the most important factor for an entry-level smartphone.
