If you check out your Facebook Messenger app right now, you might be greeted with a new “Home” button on the bottom left that replaces the “Recent” tab. Facebook just tweaked the page, making it easier for you to start and manage your conversations with the people that matters most to you.
The new tab will still show you your most recent chat messages, however, Facebook also included several sections to give you more reasons to chat with your contacts. Right below your last few conversations is a new Favourites section, which highlights the people you message the most.
Right below that is the Birthdays sections that like the main app, shows you which of your friends are celebrating their birthdays today so you can send them a personal greeting right to their chat inbox. The Active Now section below shows you the people who are available at the moment, “maybe that will prompt you to say hi”.
Facebook is currently rolling out the update, so if you don’t see it yet, wait a while and reload the app again.
