Uber Malaysia has introduced a new “Driver Destinations” feature for its driver partners. This allows drivers to set their destination and be paired with potential passengers heading the same way.
The idea appears to be to allow Uber drivers to pick up extra fares while traveling to work, or simply running errands around town. Essentially turning each trip into an opportunity to earn a little cash. However, a disclaimer points out that using Driver Destinations does not allow the driver to benefit from Hourly Benefits or other incentives.
At the same time, Uber is also running a Starbucks campaign for passengers. All you need to do is call for a ride to any Starbucks location in Malaysia to qualify for a 20-percent discount on your next coffee on the same day. There is no saving up trip receipts over time to buy multiple coffees.
The official announcement from Uber seems to imply that it is also a good idea to get your Uber driver to wait outside while you run in to pick up a coffee. Nevermind that this sounds like an incredibly expensive thing to do.
The Uber-Starbucks promotion runs until 15 July 2016, and Uber passengers can use the “STARBUCKSMY” promo code to get a free ride worth RM20.
