SteelSeries has unveiled its latest gaming keyboard called the Apex M500. This full-size keyboard is SteelSeries’ fourth gaming keyboard in the Apex lineup and it comes with plenty of neat features that’ll surely tempt plenty of gamers.

The Apex M500 – as SteelSeries puts it – is a “tournament-grade mechanical keyboard that is built to cater the needs of professional gamers”. SteelSeries decided to equip its latest gaming keyboard with Cherry MX Red switches. In addition to that, the Apex M500 also comes with a single-coloured (blue) backlit illumination. No, it doesn’t have RGB lighting.

Aesthetically, the Apex M500 is designed to be a minimalistic keyboard, whose main purpose is not so much to dazzle ones eyes, but rather allow its performance paint the picture. Despite this, the fact that the Apex M500 comes with no macro keys – like the Apex M800, 350 and 300 – could raise some eyebrows. Then again, the keyboard does come with fully programmable keys.

The SteelSeries Apex M500 will be priced at US$99 (about RM384), making it the most affordable mechanical keyboard by the company so far. Gamers that are looking to get a quality, no-nonsense, sub-RM400 gaming keyboard might want to keep an eye on the Apex M500. More information about SteelSeries’ latest gaming keyboard can be found here.
