Facebook may own WhatsApp, one of the most popular messaging apps with a billion users, but it doesn’t mean that the company is going to neglect its own messaging app, which has 900 million monthly active users. The social networking company recently introduced several new features for Facebook Messenger including Messenger Codes that makes it easier for you to connect with people.
Messenger Codes is similar to Snapchat’s snapcodes. It is just a circle with dots and dashes around your profile picture, and when someone scans it with their Facebook Messenger, it will add the person as a contact. You are probably already connected with friends and the people you care about, but with this new feature, you can easily connect with businesses and services too.
In addition to that, Facebook Messenger now has usernames and links, available at m.me. You no longer have to give your Facebook account just to chat with someone, just type “m.me/[your username]” on the URL bar, and you can get connected instantly.
Messenger Codes will be rolling out gradually starting today. For those of you who see it on your Facebook Messenger app, check out Beast’s code shared by Mark Zuckerberg earlier this morning.
