While Elephone isn’t exactly a household name in Malaysia (it only arrived here this year, after all), its latest flagship smartphone, the Vowney, might change that. Featuring a 2K display for only RM1,349, this is one interesting device.
For its asking price, the Vowney’s specifications are quite respectable. Other than the 5.5-inch 2K display, it also has a MediaTek Helio X10 1.9GHz octa-core processor paired with 4GB of RAM, 32GB of built-in storage, a microSD card slot which supports cards up to 128GB, and a very, very generous 4,000mAh battery.
In the camera department, the Vowney has a 21MP rear camera with phase detection autofocus that is coupled with an 8MP front-facing shooter. Rounding out the specification of the Vowney are a rear fingerprint sensor, dual-LTE support, and Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box.
Other than the Vowney, Elephone Malaysia has also opened pre-orders for the Vowney Lite. For the most part, it has the same specifications as the beefier Vowney, other than the fact that it has a 1080p display, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, and a smaller 3,800mAh battery instead. This particular variant of the Vowney is priced at RM1,099.
Interestingly, there are also two other Elephone devices that are available for pre-order now: the Elephone M1 and M2, which are more affordable alternatives to the Vowney and Vowney Lite. The M1 and M2 go for RM799 and RM899 respectively.
The Elephone Vowney, Vowney Lite, M1, and M2 can be pre-ordered from iDsmartphone. The former two devices will be shipped on the 5th of December 2015, while the other two will start shipping on the 25th of November 2015 instead. Alternatively, these Elephone devices can also be pre-ordered from these outlets.
