If you still remember, earlier this year Microsoft and Xiaomi has announced an interesting collaboration that allows users to install Windows 10 Technical Preview for Phones on Xiaomi Mi 4. Months have passed by since that official announcement was made and it seems that more Mi 4 owners might be able to install Windows 10 Mobile on their phones very soon.
This is based on a post by a Microsoft employee on the popular Weibo social network which is also accompanied by yet another photo of Mi 4 running on Windows 10 Mobile:
“Thanksgiving Day is around the corner, so is the public release of Windows 10 for Mi 4.”
Since Thanksgiving is not a common celebration in China, we believe that what he meant was the Thanksgiving Day in United States which will take place on this Thursday, 26 November. Hence, this means that the Windows 10 Mobile build for Xiaomi Mi 4 might be released to public as early as this week.
Of course, this is not considered as official until Microsoft and Xiaomi officially release the special build out in the open. For Mi 4 owners out there that are already planning to install Windows 10 Mobile into their unit once it is made available, do note you not able to operate it as a dual-boot device.
In other words, Windows 10 Mobile will replace Android as the sole operating system in your Mi 4 once you do the conversation. So, do proceed with caution when the time comes.
